MEETING CANCELLED
Sorry folks. The 12 May meeting is off due to another double-booking by the Arts Forum. I'm not sure at present if there will be a replacement meeting.
We meet on the second Thursday in the month, from 7 to 9 pm, in the Notley or Seafront Rooms at the White Rock Hotel. The following is our provisional programme for the first part of 2012, and may still be subject to revision. Offers are invited for presentations or discussion topics.
January 12: A formal Debate between Joe Fearn and Stephen Milton: Are Disembodied Minds Possible? This will no doubt cover ghosts, spirits, conscious computers etc.
February 9: The Rewriting of History by Christian Apologists. Are we a Judaeo-Christian or Graeco-Roman Culture - or something else? George Jelliss introduces a discussion.
March 8: The Biological Basis of Morality. By Stephen Milton.
April 12: Education Debate. The Church of England is seeking to convert Community schools to faith academies. Creationists want to set up Free Schools. Nadine Dorries is trying to censor sex education for girls. And much more.
May 10: The Anthropic Principles. Is the universe the way it is because we are here? Discuussion introduced by Joe Fearn.
June 14: Barbara Burfoot will talk to us about the Sea of Faith organisation. This will be a joint meeting with the Hastings Inter-Faith Forum.
July 14: The Meaning of "Humanism". Introduced by Duncan Cleverley.
